“The worth of a business is measured not by what has been put into it, but by what can be taken out of it.”
Benjamin Graham
About
I am a U.S. based private investor that focuses primarily on North American businesses. While in grad school I discovered my passion for investing. Like many it was the wisdom of Buffett and Munger that opened my eyes to how individuals should think about allocating their resources; meaning their capital and even more importantly their time. I received a Bachelor’s in History from the University of South Florida and a Masters in Education from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.
It is my hope that the articles and resources I write here will serve two purposes. Firstly, it has been my experience that writing down your thoughts helps to clarify what’s rattling around in your head. This can be very beneficial to someone who is constantly bringing in new information via books, company filings, podcasts, research papers, interviews, news articles, etc... Secondly, main stream business “wisdom” and Wall Street have done an amazing job of overcomplicating what should be a simple act: allocating one’s resources. I hope that my experience of owning a small business and investing in the public markets can help simplify the overcomplicated aspects of allocating your capital and maybe even your time.
I currently live in Chattanooga, TN with my wife and 3 children.
